DOCTORS OF THE LABORATORY

The laboratory of “Medera Hospital” holds ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 15189:2012 quality and accreditation certificates. A wide range of laboratory tests are performed here.

The laboratory is equipped with high-tech, high-quality equipment manufactured by leading companies from Japan, the USA, Germany, and other countries.

The laboratory, which serves hundreds of patients daily, follows specific testing protocols, and all analyses are performed according to these guidelines. It is well known that laboratory results are not limited only to the analytical phase. To obtain accurate results, special attention must be paid to the pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical stages.

One of the most important and sensitive aspects of the pre-analytical phase is the correct handling of biomaterial collection conditions, storage, and transportation before it enters the analytical phase. Strict adherence to collection protocols is ensured for every test. Sterile vacuum systems that do not require direct contact with the environment or personnel are used for sample collection. This method is safer for patients and ensures high-quality biomaterial.

Thanks to automated barcode systems, samples are processed under unique patient-specific codes, minimizing identification errors. After this, the analytical phase begins. Considering multiple factors that may affect quality (equipment performance, reagent quality, laboratory conditions, etc.), all procedures are carried out in strict compliance with international standards.

Quality control is performed daily in all laboratory sections, and if necessary, several times a day. Results are directly entered into a computerized information system. Each result passes multiple verification stages: the first review by a laboratory physician, the second by the laboratory manager, and the third by the quality manager. This system allows full traceability of each sample from collection to final result. Only results that pass all quality criteria are delivered to patients.

The Quality Control Department is responsible for ensuring high-quality medical services and improving staff efficiency. The hospital’s quality policy is based on ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 15189:2012 standards. In accordance with these standards, audits are conducted twice a year, and all results are documented.

All examinations, analyses, and procedures at Medera Hospital are continuously monitored through advanced information technologies and surveillance systems. The department also strictly supervises laboratory equipment, with annual inspections carried out jointly by hospital specialists and the State Standardization and Metrology Committee.

Patient feedback and complaints are carefully reviewed, internal audits are conducted, and improvement action plans are developed. Satisfaction surveys are also carried out among individual and corporate clients. Based on survey results, proposals are prepared for new equipment, technologies, and reagents. The department continuously focuses on expanding the range of laboratory tests and improving service quality.

Why do reference ranges differ between laboratories?

A reference range represents the accepted normal range of a test result. Results are compared to these ranges to determine deviations from normal values.

Different laboratories use various analyzers, reagents from different manufacturers, and sometimes different testing methods. Therefore, reference ranges may vary between laboratories.

There is no single universal reference range. When interpreting results, physicians must rely on the reference values provided by the specific laboratory. For accurate interpretation and patient monitoring, it is recommended that tests be performed using the same method and, if possible, in the same laboratory.
